    BUILDING BACKGROUND/CONNECTION TO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Pupils are familiar with the topic in their previous topic
    CONTENT:
    MEANING OF SOCIAL STUDIES
    Social studies is the study of man and his environment.

2 Social Studies is the study of how man lives with other people in the society.
3 Social Studies is the study of how man provides answers to his
Problems.

Assessment and Evaluation

  1. Explain the meaning of social studies.
    Wrap up (conclusion)

CONTENT:

  1. The study of man
  2. How his problems are solved in the environment
    Man cannot live alone. He must play and talk with other people. Man has also made many things to make his life better. Some of these things are cars, houses, roads, books, bicycles and toys

Other things in our environment
They are other things we see in our environment. Those things were not made by us. They were created (made) by God. Examples are trees, rivers and mountains.
We need trees in our compound to make our lives comfortable.
HOW HIS PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED IN THE ENVIRONMENT

  1. We fetch water from the river.
  2. We walk on the road.
  3. We sleep in the house.
  4. We use rock to build our roads.

Wrap up (conclusion)
Teacher goes over the topic once again for better understanding.
Assignment:

  1. Say who a man is.
  2. Explain how many lives and solve his problems in the environment.

TYPES OF CULTURE
There are two types of culture. They are material culture and non-material culture. We will explain the differences.
Material culture
Material culture are aspects of culture we can make, see, touch and feel.
Examples

  1. MATERIAL
  2. NON-MATERIAL
    Non-material culture are aspects of culture we cannot see but can hear and feel.
    They are not things we can collect and keep somewhere. We only know them from what people do.
    Examples:
    1 Language
    2 Religion
    3 Greetings
    4 Dancing
    5 Dressing
    6 Eating habits
