God Speaks to Us

How Does God Speak to Us?
God is a living Father who loves to talk to His children. Although we may not always hear a loud voice from the sky, God uses different ways to send His messages to us. There are five main channels through which God speaks:
- Through the Bible: The Bible is God’s written Word. When we read it, we learn what God wants us to do and how to live.
- Through Parents and Teachers: God gives our parents and teachers wisdom to guide us. When they give us good advice, God is speaking through them.
- Through Pastors and Church Leaders: During sermons and Sunday school, God uses leaders to teach us His ways.
- Through Our Conscience: This is the “inner voice” that makes us feel good when we do right and uneasy when we do wrong.
- Through Prayer: As we talk to God, He puts peace and thoughts into our hearts as His answer to us.
Bible Story: God Speaks to Samuel — 1 Samuel 3:1-10
Young Samuel lived in the temple with Eli the priest. One night, while Samuel was sleeping, he heard a voice calling his name. He ran to Eli three times, thinking Eli was the one calling him. Each time, Eli told him he had not called. On the third time, Eli understood that it was God. He told Samuel to lie down and say: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” When Samuel said this, God spoke to him and revealed His plans. This story shows that God can speak to children, not just adults.
How to Hear God’s Voice
To hear God, we must be willing to listen. Three things help us hear Him clearly:
- Be quiet and focused when praying or reading the Bible.
- Read the Bible daily so we know His voice when He speaks.
- Obey what we already know is right — obedience opens our hearts to hear more.

- Step 1 – Introduction: The teacher asks pupils, “How do you know when your mother wants you to do something?” (She speaks). The teacher explains that God also speaks to us because He is our Father.

We are Children of One Father

God Is Our Heavenly Father
Just as we have earthly fathers who care for us at home, we have one Great Father in Heaven. God is the Creator of all things and the Father of all mankind. Because He is our Father, every person on earth — no matter their tribe, language, or skin color — is a member of His big family.
We Are All God’s Children
God created every person on earth in His image. There are two ways we become His children:

Living as One Family

- Loving One Another: We show kindness to everyone, not just people we know well.
- Respect: We respect people regardless of their tribe, language, or physical appearance.
- Unity: God wants His children to live in peace and help each other every day.

What Does It Mean to Be Called by God?
Being called by God means that God invites us to do a specific work for Him. It is not always a phone call or a loud shout — it is a feeling in our hearts or a direction from His Word that tells us how to help others and give Him glory. God did not create anyone by accident. Every child has a purpose — a reason for being alive.
Using Our Talents for God
God gives us talents — things we are naturally good at — to help fulfill our purpose. Common talents and their uses include:

Bible Story 1: God Calls Moses — Exodus 3:1-12
Moses was a shepherd taking care of sheep when he saw a bush on fire, but the bush did not burn up. When he went closer, God called his name from the bush and revealed Moses’ purpose: to go to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery. Moses was afraid, but God promised to be with him every step of the way. This shows that God equips us for whatever He calls us to do.
Bible Story 2: God Calls Young Samuel — 1 Samuel 3:1-10
As we studied in Week 1, God called Samuel when he was just a young boy. His purpose was to be a Prophet and leader for the people of Israel. This shows that God calls people of all ages — even children today have a purpose in God’s plan.
How to Fulfill Our Purpose
- Be helpful to our parents at home.
- Study hard to become what God wants us to be.
- Pray and ask God: “What do you want me to do today?”

What Are Laws and Why Did God Give Them?
Laws are sets of rules made to guide our behavior and keep us safe. Just as we have school rules and traffic laws, God gave His people rules to help them live holy lives and stay in a good relationship with Him and with others. God gave us laws for three reasons:
- To Guide Us: To show us the right way to live.
- To Protect Us: To keep us from doing things that will hurt us or others.
- To Show His Holiness: To teach us what God likes and dislikes.
The Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai
After God rescued the Israelites from Egypt, He led them to Mount Sinai. There, God called Moses up to the mountain and gave him the Ten Commandments written on two tablets of stone. The scene was dramatic — thunder, lightning, and a thick cloud covered the mountain, showing how serious and powerful God’s Law is.
The First Three Commandments — Our Relationship with God
