Frequently Asked Questions
Why does “How I Spent My Last Holiday” come up more than once?
The scheme deliberately revisits familiar composition topics while the grammar focus changes, present tense in one term, past continuous or present perfect in another, so pupils practise the same subject matter with increasingly advanced structures.
What is the Dictation strand for?
Some weeks include a short spelling list pupils learn alongside the main lesson, usually themed around a shared letter pattern, to build spelling and vocabulary in parallel with the week’s grammar focus.
Does this scheme apply outside Lagos State?
This scheme follows the Lagos State Ministry of Education’s unified scheme of work. Other states may sequence English Studies topics slightly differently, so check with your local Ministry of Education if you’re outside Lagos.
