Who is a Christian?

A Christian is someone who follows Jesus Christ. Jesus is the leader of the Christian religion. He is the Son of God.

How to Become a Christian

To become a Christian, there are some steps you can take:

1. Learn about Jesus

Learn about Jesus and what He taught. The Bible tells the story of Jesus and His teachings. You can read it or ask a Christian to explain it to you. (John 3:16)

2. Admit You Are a Sinner

We all make mistakes. We need to admit that we are sinners. (Romans 3:23)

3. Believe in Jesus

Believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross to save us from our sins. (John 3:16)

4. Confess Jesus as Lord

Confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Tell Him you want to follow Him. (Romans 10:9)

5. Repent of Your Sins

Repent means to turn away from your sins. Stop doing bad things. (Acts 17:30)

6. Ask Jesus Into Your Heart

Ask Jesus to come into your heart. Let Him be the leader of your life. (Romans 10:9-10)

7. Be Baptized

Baptism shows that you are now a follower of Jesus. (Mark 16:16)

8. Tell Others

Tell others about your decision to follow Jesus. Share the good news. (Matthew 28:19-20)

9. Read and Obey the Bible

Read the Bible every day. Obey what it says. (2 Timothy 3:16)

10. Go to Church

Start going to church and learning more about God. You can also pray to God. (Hebrews 10:25)

Doing Good Works

As Christians, we are called to do good works. We should show love to others. This means helping others, being kind, and spreading joy wherever we go.

Doing good works is important. It shows others the love of Jesus in us. It helps us grow closer to God.

Good Works Do Not Save Us

It’s important to remember that our good works do not make us righteous. Righteousness means being in a right relationship with God. That can only happen through faith in Jesus.

When we trust in Jesus and follow Him, we are made righteous through His sacrifice on the cross.

Our good works are important. But they do not save us or make us right with God. Only Jesus can do that.

When we have a right relationship with God, our good works will naturally flow from that relationship.

Put Your Faith in Jesus

Let’s remember to always put our faith in Jesus. Trust in Him for our righteousness. Let’s also continue to do good works and show love to others. This is a way of shining Jesus’ light to the world.

As Christians, we are called to follow Jesus and live according to His teachings. Here are some ways we can do this:

Seven Things Christians Should Do

1. Pray

Talking to God through prayer is an important way to build a relationship with Him. We can ask for His guidance.

2. Read the Bible

The Bible is God’s Word. It teaches us about who He is and how to live.

3. Love Others

Jesus taught us to love others as we love ourselves. This means treating others with kindness and respect. We should do this even when they are different from us.

4. Serve Others

Christians are called to serve others and help those in need. This can be through volunteering, helping a neighbor, or donating to charity.

5. Be Honest

God wants us to be honest in all we do and say.

6. Forgive Others

Forgiveness is a key part of our relationship with God and with others. When someone hurts us, we should forgive them. This is just as God has forgiven us.

7. Attend Church

Going to church helps us learn about God. We worship Him with other believers.

Things Christians Should Not Do

1. Do Not Worship Other Gods

Do not worship any other gods or idols. Worship only the true God. (Exodus 20:3)

2. Do Not Misuse God’s Name

Do not use God’s name in a disrespectful way. Treat God’s name with honor. (Exodus 20:7)

3. Keep the Sabbath Holy

Keep the Sabbath day holy by not working on that day. Use it to rest and worship God. (Exodus 20:8-11)

4. Respect Your Parents

Show respect and obedience to your parents. Honor them always. (Exodus 20:12)

5. Do Not Murder

Do not murder or harm others. Value human life. (Exodus 20:13)

6. Do Not Steal

Do not cheat or steal from others. Be honest in all your dealings. (Exodus 20:15)

7. Do Not Lie

Do not lie or speak falsely about others. Always tell the truth. (Exodus 20:16)

8. Do Not Covet

Do not desire or take what belongs to others. Be content with what you have. (Exodus 20:17)

9. Love and Serve Others

Jesus also taught that we should love and serve others as ourselves. (John 12:24, John 21:18)

Remember, following these commandments will help you to live a good and moral life. You will please God.
