What is an Accident?
Hello pupils! Today we will learn about accidents.
An accident is an unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss. Accidents happen when we don’t expect them.
Causes of Accidents
1. Taking Shortcuts
When you try to do things the quick way instead of the safe way, accidents can happen.
2. Being Overconfident
Thinking you can do something dangerous without getting hurt can lead to accidents.
3. Incomplete Instructions
Starting a task without knowing all the steps can cause accidents.
4. Poor Housekeeping
A messy, dirty environment can cause people to trip, fall, or get hurt.
5. Ignoring Procedures
Not following safety rules is very dangerous and can cause accidents.
6. Failure to Pre-Plan Work
Not planning before starting a task can lead to mistakes and accidents.
7. Not Using Safety Gadgets
Safety equipment like helmets, gloves, and goggles help prevent accidents. Not using them is dangerous.

How to Avoid Road Accidents
To stay safe on the road, there are important tips everyone should follow:
1. Obey Traffic Laws and Signals
Always follow traffic lights, road signs, and zebra crossings. Stop when the light is red, and cross only when it’s green.
2. Never Drive Under the Influence
Adults should never drive after drinking alcohol. It makes them unable to control the vehicle properly.
3. Keep Safe Distance
Vehicles should stay far enough from other vehicles to stop safely if needed.
4. Avoid Distractions
Don’t use your phone, eat, or do other things while driving. Keep your eyes on the road!
5. Always Use Seatbelts
Everyone in the vehicle should wear a seatbelt. This protects you if there’s an accident.
6. Maintain Vehicles Properly
Vehicles should be serviced regularly. Check brakes, tires, and lights to make sure everything works well.
7. Be Aware of Others
Watch out for other drivers, pedestrians (people walking), and bicyclists on the road.
8. Extra Caution in Bad Weather
Be especially careful when it’s raining or at night when visibility is poor.
