Meaning of values

Values are the beliefs about what is good and right. They guide how we think, speak and act. National values are the good qualities that all Nigerians agree on. These values help the country to live in peace.

Honesty and truthfulness

Honesty means telling the truth and doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching. A truthful pupil does not cheat in a test. A truthful pupil also returns lost items to the owner.

Respect for others

Respect means treating people with care and honour. We show respect when we greet elders, listen when others speak and use polite words. We do not insult or laugh at anyone.

Hard work and dedication

Hard work means putting in effort to finish a task well. Dedication means staying committed and not giving up. A hardworking pupil studies daily, completes homework and tries again after a mistake.

Honesty Returning a lost wallet or pencil case to the owner
Respect Greeting the teacher and giving a seat to an elder
